Harvest is On!!…and Off…and On!!!
The colors in Oceana County have been just spectacular this fall! Dave took this picture from the combine October 25th. It is close to 88th Avenue and Hazel Road in Hart Township…Bruce and Bobbi Mull’s backyard actually! Our back yard October 20thAlthough we officially started harvest October 6th, it was a slow start with many rain days in a row that kept us out of the field.Besides the rain, we had to learn how to run the new natural gas corn dryer which was a challenge but the guys now have a handle on it and it is working great! To run soybeans, it must be completely dry for 3 days in a row. We started combining beans Saturday October 25th and finished with all soybean acres 3 a.m. the 28th. With help from all our team and a few round-the-clock sessions, we harvested 475 acres, both our own and our custom accounts. It is a blessing to be completely done with beans as they are more finicky to deal with than corn. Soybeans coming off down in “Hallackville” October 27So we look ahead; Will the gales of November come early? Press on Team Snider! The end is nearer than before… And hunting season awaits!
It is always great to see where you are in the harvest or building or whatever your project happens to be in each season. Great pictures to share with those of us who know nothing about the trials and tribulations of farming.
Love you guys, your pics and your posts!
